Literacy Through the Arts
Research shows that the arts are vital to expanding a well-rounded education and that students with instruction in the arts outperform others essentially in every measure. Not only does an arts education encourage and assist in the improvement of a child’s attitude towards school, it helps teach children to communicate effectively with adults and peers. We first learn about the world through creative play which includes sight, sound and movement. Arts education has a profound outcome on a child’s academic achievement and also enriches their lives. On all accounts, the arts remain critical to the balanced development of problem solving and creativity in children.
Several times throughout the year, The Village School Preschool invites members of our community to come to our classrooms or special events to share their artistic talents with our preschoolers and engage them in a fun activity.
