Meet Our Teachers

The Village School is blessed to have an experienced, knowledgeable and dedicated staff! This year we welcome Kimberly Kirschman to our teaching team! Kim will be assisting in the 3 year old classroom and we are thrilled to have her on board!

Working at The Village School Preschool is my passion and has been for over 20

years. I first became acquainted with Village School through Old Zionsville United Church of Christ where I am an active member. Both of my children were attending Village School and it was during this time that I became a member of the Village School board. I fell in love with the school so when a teaching assistant position became available in the 2 year old program, I jumped at the opportunity to join the teaching staff. This marked the beginning of my very rewarding and joy-filled journey teaching preschoolers. At present, I teach the 2 year old, 3 year old and 4 year old classes.

I have been blessed with artistic talents and a creative mindset which I incorporate into my teaching plans to provide a diversified learning environment so that each child can learn at their own pace and their own learning style. In an attempt to balance out work and play, assuring that school is enjoyable and predictable for a young child, I often disguise my teaching in the form of “play” so that the child can build on their acquired knowledge and skills while having fun at the same time!

Teaching has always been my greatest joy. When I am not teaching, I enjoy dancing, camping with my husband and singing in my church choir. I reside in Emmaus with my husband, daughter and grand-daughter. My son is a linguist in the military and is married with 2 children.

I am happily married and together my husband and I raised (and enjoyed every minute of it!) two wonderful sons who are now adults with successful careers.

Although my background is in nursing, I have worked as a teacher’s assistant at The Village School in all classes at one time or another for over 10 years. This year I will be assisting in the Pre-K class.

After the death of our infant daughter many years ago, I realized that not only is being a parent the most awesome responsibility in the world but more importantly, children are a wonderful and precious gift to be cherished. It is my belief that it does take a village to raise a child in this complicated world.

As my husband and I raised our boys, my experience caring for and working with children began to blossom. I cared for children in my home, taught Sunday School, and volunteered in my boys’ school, Cub Scout groups and later in boy scouts. Finally, I joined the teaching team at The Village School.

In addition to working for The Village Preschool, I also served as Missioner for Children & Youth at the Episcopal Church of the Mediator in Allentown for 5 years. Although I loved my work there, I resigned in order to concentrate on my work here at Village School. I am one of the lucky ones who loves coming to work every day and for this I am very thankful!

Kim Kirschman

My husband and I have been married since 2012. We reside in Salisbury township where we are raising our 3 children; Isabella, Grant, and Lucas. My family and I are members of Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Old Zionsville. This school year we will have all 3 of our kids in different schools; one high school, one elementary and one preschool! (We’ll be busy!) We love being outside and spending time together as a family.

I started babysitting as a teenager and went from there! I attended college for early childhood education and loved every second of it! I have always been interested in working with children and used to tutor the kids in younger grades all throughout my school career.

Shortly after our oldest son was born in 2013 we started to think about preschools for him. Children from our family have been attending The Village School for many years so we didn’t have to look far to find out where we wanted to send him! He recently graduated from the Pre-k class and now we are getting ready to send our youngest into the 2 year old class!

I am very excited to join the staff at The Village School as the teacher assistant for the 3 year old class!

In 2014, after much consideration about whether or not to send our 2 year old to preschool, we were delighted to find a school with a fun, creative art-based philosophy right

within our community.

Over the years we have developed close friendships with the students, parents and staff. Last year having one of my children graduate and head off to Kindergarten while the other entered the 3 year old program aside my niece and nephew and serving as a board member as well; I was excited to join the Village School faculty!

I fell in love with working with younger children while teaching a 2 year old program at a local daycare. I graduated from Kutztown University with a degree in Elementary Education and Middle School Science with a minor in Spanish. After graduating, I substituted at Parkland School District and Upper Perkiomen School District where I later taught Kindergarten.

I reside in Zionsville with my husband and 2 children. We enjoy the outdoors and spending time together as a family and with all of our nieces and nephew!

I am looking forward to bringing fun and creativity into the classroom again this year and sharing my love of art with the children.
